Speaker Profile: Stu Johnson, developer support engineer at Havok

We are delighted to announce that Stu Johnson, developer support engineer at Havok will be speaking at the Coolest Projects event!

Stu first taught himself assembly language programming in the late 1970’s as has since spent nearly all his working life as a games developer, progressing to the C/C++ language in the early 1990’s.

His first game was published in 1981 whilst still at school and has gone on to write innumerable titles as freelance programmer, in-house developer and with his own studio. He has been the lead developer on such classics as <em>Jungle Strike</em>, <em>Disney’s Tarzan</em>, <em>Crash Bandicoot : Crash Bash</em>,<em> Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets</em> and <em>Spyro the Dragon : A Hero’s Tale</em>. And many, many more.

Stu left the glamour of lead console development in 2005 to provide technical support and wisdom to the fledgling mobile games business, developing the necessary tools and technologies to drive the business of developing games on these platforms onward. In 2010 he joined PopCap’s Dublin studio and was tasked with building and managing a Tech. Team to provide specialist support to the existing game development teams.

Stu is now in the employ of Havok as an engineer and is first point of contact for many large games studios across Europe. Havok has over 15 years of experience servicing the most demanding technology requirements for leading game developers. The company’s technologies have been used in over 600 titles including top franchises such as Halo, The Elder Scrolls, Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, Uncharted, Dead Rising and Skylanders!
