During the month of February, young creators can register their ideas to save their spot for this year’s Coolest Projects online showcase. To help you get those ideas flowing, here are some tips from the Coolest Projects team:
1. Think about what inspires you!
Coolest Projects is a celebration of creativity, YOUR creativity, so take the time to reflect on what matters to you. What makes Coolest Projects so COOL is that young creators from all over the world share projects about topics that are important to them. To help you generate some ideas, try answering these questions:
- What is important to me?
- What makes me happy?
- What do I enjoy doing?
2. Think about problems that you want to solve
Coolest Projects is a great opportunity to work on a project to help solve a problem in your community. This month is a great time to talk to your friends, family, or community members and think creatively about how technology could provide a solution to a problem that they’re facing.
Questions to ask:
- If you could snap your fingers and change one thing about your day, what would it be?
- What is something that could help improve the community?
- What is a challenge that you face at work/school/home?
3. Check out other people’s projects
Seeing what others have created is a great way to get inspired and can help you identify what is interesting to you. In 2020, hundreds of young creators from all over the world shared all levels, types, and stages of projects for the Coolest Projects online showcase. Check out last year’s projects here. You can also check out Digital Making at Home where every week, the Raspberry Pi Foundation team talks with people all over the world who are using technology to have fun, explore, and be creative!
4. Spend some time outside
Have a tech break and go outside. Even better, take a pen and piece of paper with you and write down any ideas that come to you. On the Coolest Projects team, we’re a big fan of walks for creative thinking.
5. Try something new
If you’re stuck, try exploring something new! You can learn a new programming language or try playing with a new piece of hardware. Learning something new is a great way to inspire ideas as your brain is stimulated by gaining new knowledge. If you’re looking for a place to start, check out the Raspberry Pi Foundation library of projects. We can’t wait to see what you create!
Once you’ve got your idea, make sure to register your idea on the Coolest Projects website. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at [email protected]!
