We are happy to have Ann O’Dea, CEO, editor-at-large of Silicon Republic speaking at the Coolest Projects event! Ann is co-founder and CEO of Silicon Republic, Ireland’s leading technology and innovation news service. Ann is the driving force behind Silicon Republic’s Women Inventcampaign, launched on International Women’s Day back in March 2013, to champion women role models in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and to help tackle the gender gap in the knowledge industries.
She was recently awarded a Fellowship from the Irish Computer Society for her work in championing women in STEM, along with CPL CEO Ann Heraty and Minister Richard Bruton. Last year she was awarded a Net Visionary award by the Irish Internet Association, again for her work on ensuring the visibility of remarkable women role models. Earlier this year she was awarded Woman of the Year in Media by the Irish Tatler magazine.
Her work in the area of ‘STEMinism’ culminates on June 18-20 this year in the international sci-tech festival she founded, Inspirefest, which has diversity at its heart. It will see some 2,000 attendees hear from a 70%+ line-up of remarkable women speakers that includes Cindy Gallop and Brianna Wu, as well as Ariel Waldman and Kara Swisher.
Don’t miss Ann’s talk on the day!
